A Leap Year Proposal

Today is February 29th 2012.

Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November;
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone
Which hath but twenty-eight, in fine,
Till leap year gives it twenty-nine.

Traditionally when it comes to proposing marriage,
it falls on the male to ask his sweetheart if she would do him the honor of becoming his wife.
This year however is a leap year and on the 29th of February the tables are turned.
It is a leap year tradition that women propose marriage on the 29th of February
And if the man says no then he must pay a fine,
the fine can be anything that the girl desires from a simple kiss to a very expensive piece of jewellery.

 Scottish Law
The tradition that originated in Ireland in the 5th century,
St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. According to legend, St. Patrick said the yearning females could propose on this one day in February during the leap year.
In Scotland in 1288 a law was passed that allowed women to propose marriage to the man of their choice in that year. And any man who refused would have to pay the fine.
not part of the law but as a good luck charm, they should also wear a red petticoat under their dress - and make sure that it is partly visible to the man when they propose.

Leaplings
A person who was born on 29 February may be called a "leapling".
In non-leap years they usually celebrate their birthday on 28 February or 1st March.
For legal purposes, their legal birthdays depend on how different laws count time intervals. In England and Wales the legal birthday of a leapling is 28 February in common years . so a leapling born on 29 February 1980 (example) would have legally reached 18 years old on 28 February 1998.

HAPPY LEAP YEAR DAY!!!

By the Gace of God III

Today we our goodbye's to our dear sweet Hannah.
What a beautiful service.
What a beautiful family.

Her sweet presence was felt through out the room.
Her dad gave a beautiful eulogy about his beloved daughter.
Her mom told a story that she had written many years ago,
that now understands, she wrote it for this day.
There was a dance performance by the dance company Hannah attended.
There was memory video of pictures through Hannah's wonderful.
And a video of what she loved to do most.
Dance.

 Although
we will never see her sweet face again, she her walk through the doors at work, or hear her precious laugh.
We all know that she is in heaven waiting for us.

By the Grace of God II

This post lays heavy on my heart.

Our dear sweet Hannah Grace Kelley passed away yesterday.
She is now walking with Jesus on the street of gold in heaven.
She is no longer in pain and suffering.

We have lost a great young women.
Full of life. Full of God's spirit.

StickyJ. has lost a great employee, and I have lost a friend.

This was something that Hannah wrote on her Facebook page:
'Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned. It is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.'
'Thank You Lord for everything . Forgive all of my sins. I love You and I need You. Thank You for all Your blessing to me , Cover me with Your precious and holy blood, my family, my friends, my life projects. Give me Your dreams, Lord. Bless and protect everyone who seeks You, needs You and believes in You.'
We will never know why God called Hannah home so early.

Fashionistas...Spring is here!

When I got home today this sweet little thing was waiting for me in the mailbox...
Nordstrom's Spring 2012 preview mag!
I have been under the weather this week and laying eyes on this cheered me right up!
As we know I love pretty things, and Nordsies is the epitome of prettiness.
Right down this magazine.
The pages are shiny and glossy and the layouts are just so lavish.

So here it is...
Top 5 Spring's "it" list:

#1.) PREP CLUB
Say hello to all things preppy, pushed to a new level of cool.
Think old-classics amped up brilliant color.
***
Most wanted in Preppy:

1.) Varied Stripes
Uneven rules right now and so does a bit of transparency.

2.) Colorful Denim
Favorite skinny pumped up in your favorite bright color.

3.) Bright Oxfords
A classic stepped-up in a witty color.

4.) The new bold school bag.

Sleek and practical this bag gets an "A" for fun.

5.) The high-wattage belt.

#2.) STREAMLINED
Spring lines up with sculpted shapes and a graphic use of color.
This is statement dressing.
A play of chic control and engineered drama.
***
Most wanted in streamlined.

1.) Sculptural Jewelry
Keep accents understated yet avaunt-garde.

2.) Sleek watches.
A numberless watch is ultra mod and super sleek.

3.) Bold Strokes.
The next evolution of color blocking: a cute dress with acute angles and pop-art contrast.

4.) Organic Forms
For a subtler impact, explore graceful shapes in the cubist mode.
5.) Contrast or complement.

Some shoes and bags play a supporting role, in bold blends of neutrals—while others take a cue from this trend's technicolor dresses.

#3.) NEW HORIZONS
If you prefer a more sensual take on neutrals, get back to nature with sun baked shades, earthy textures, and lighter-then-air fabrics.
You'll love the easy freedom of this trend, as well as it's rich sophistication.
***
Most wanted in new horizons:

1.) Artisan Inspired Jewelry
Play rugged metals against something simple: a crisp white shirt, or tanned skin and a tank.

2.) The Craft Shoe.
Natural textures don't have to be casual. The more intricate the weave, the more elegant the shoe.

3.) Open weaved knits.
Breezy macramé in a laid-back shape balances beautifully with tailored pants and sleek sandals.

4.) Exotic skins
Serpent scales add life at the office—and a sense of danger for an evening out.

5.) Shades of sand.
Go muted in sun bleached beige tones.

#4.) GRAPHIC PRINTS
When it comes to pattern, bold is best.
For spring; everything from exploded florals and geometrics kitschy motifs and scarfs.
Think high contrast, high drama.
***
Most wanted in graphic prints:

1.)  Abstract Florals.
A splash of mid-century modernism makes familiar things—tulips, shirtdresses—alluringly unrecognizable.

2.) Modern Geometry
Mixing patterns makes a statement. Matching them head to toe makes an art-deco declaration.

3.) Pattern Bags.
Add dimension to neutrals—or play against another pattern to heighten the optical effect.

4) Strong Shades
Use one or to strong tones like black and white to anchor your pairing.

5.) Eye Popping Extras
Amped-up lashes are a necessary companion to powerful prints. Don't dream of hiding them...unless it's with a new twist on classic shades.

#5.)  FRENCH CHARM
Channel that French girl aesthetic with a flirty mix of demure and allure.
Vintage femininity looks new paired with button-up pieces.
The glam gamine is here.
***
Most wanted in French charm:

1.) Vintage Florals
What could be more subversively fun than an 18th-century sofa repurposed into a 21st-century ensemble?

2.) Dark Romance
Classic pearls turn instantly mysterious with a touch of black lace.

3.) Prim and Proper Bows
Au courant bows sweeten everything they land on. Keep the look from going twee by incorporating just one bow-detailed item at a time.

4.) Chic Melange

Pair boudoir textures with refined French dots for an elegantly eclectic mix.

5.) Boudoir to Beach
Make a case for lace via lingerie.
